First meeting of the EMENA Network Sherpas Council
Following the launch of the EMENA Sovereign Funds Collaborative Network (EMENA Network) on 24th March 2022 MGI hosted the first Secretariat and Sherpas Council meeting in Malta paving the way for co-operation amongst sovereign funds across the region. Malta, March 28, 2022 Malta Government Investments (MGI), the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) and Bpifrance signed a deed to found the “The European, Middle East and North Africa Sovereign Wealth Funds Foundation” in Malta, laying the basis for a Mediterranean collaboration network. MGI teams up with St Margaret College
With schools closed and online teaching becoming mainstream, Malta Government Investments (MGI) teamed up with St Margaret College to deliver a number of sessions by leading personalities from both the public and private sectors. The sessions provided students with an opportunity to leave their “virtual classrooms” and interact with these personalities. This resulted in a programme consisting of 16 online sessions that were spread over a couple of weeks to which students and teachers from all over Malta and Gozo were invited.

Meeting with Ambassador of Malta to France
Following his recent appointment to Paris a meeting was held between CEO MGI and HE Carmelo Inguanez, Ambassador of Malta to France. Bilateral relations with an emphasis on investments were discussed. The meeting was also attended by Mr Pascal Lagarde,
MGI attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum that was held on 15th January 2020
The forum included the Launch of The UAE Guiding Principles in Sustainable Finance which was endorsed by leading UAE authorities.
Meeting with Mubadala in Abu Dhabi
A meeting was held with Mubadala in Abu Dhabi about co-operation in the field of investments. Mubadala was represented by Mr Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Deputy Group CEO and assisted by Mr Khaled Al Shamlan, Head of Sovereign Investment Partnerships from Mubadala Capital.
Meeting with Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry
A meeting was held between MGI and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry, led by Mr Emad A. Al-Zaid, Assistant Director General, who was accompanied by Mr Abdullah Ali Al-Mershad from the Foreign Relations Department.
Meeting with Kuwait Investment Authority
A meeting was held with the Kuwait Investment Authority led by Mr Farouk A Bastaki, Managing Director. HE Ambassador Patrick Cole attended the meeting also. The Managing Director of KIA was accompanied by Ms Dalal Al Mutawa from the Strategy Department. MGI was represented by CEO.
